Family...if only we lived closer!

Unfortunately my family is spread out enough that we don't get to see each other often. So last week I was really excited that I got to get together for a short visit with my dad, and my brother and his very cute boys. Leyton (chuck's youngest son) is exactly one year older than Jake, and Aiden (Chuck's oldest son) is 3 years than Jake so it's fun to see what fun we are in for! Anyhow we had a great time swimming and getting spoiled by my dad who treated us to McKenzie River pizza, which for the record is the BEST pizza joint ever! The other excitement of the week was trying desperately to get Jake to eat food. It has turned into quite the battle, the kid just does NOT want anything to do with baby food. At least he's darn cute as he spits all his food out!

Shed Hunting

Erich and I thought we would take advantage of the warm streak of weather and switch from snow sports to good ol' hiking. We took a couple of days last week and hiked up the riverbreaks in search of elk/deer sheds. The terrain here is so crazy, it is insanely steep right off the river and then you break out on top and hit these big basins and gently sloping ridges. It's so beautiful on top with lots of great views. We only found one 5 point deer antler but we sure had a good time ...UNTIL I saw a tick on Erich. I am petrified of ticks so that took a little, no make that a LOT of the fun out of it but thankfully there were none on Jacob and we caught all of the ones on us before they had time to burrow in. Anyone else feeling itchy right now?!?

Adventures with Flat Stanley

So my nephew sent us "Flat Stanley" and asked us to take him on adventures around Idaho. So that was our weekend fun---toting Flat Stanley around to visit the beauty of Grangeville. We went skiing to our favorite little Rustic Cabin and snowshoeing to a great vista point overlooking Whitebird pass. It was a gorgeous weekend and a great reminder of just how lucky we are to live in such a cool place.
We also hung out with our friends who were thinking of buying a puppy...hence the pic of the adorable lil' lab/retriever pup.

Random Winter Happenings

Things have been relatively mellow here in the Gleckler household. We are having lots of fun playing with Jake who's requiring more and more attention these days :) He's definitely perfecting the sitting up thing andmbecoming more inquisitive. The days of enjoying a nice peaceful dinner or holding Jake while playing cards are definitely gone.

We've also been cross country skiing quite a bit. Last weekend we skiied up to a little cabin and had hot chocolate up there. Jake was completely mesmerized by the fire...lights and motion what more could a little boy ask for?

I am not back at work but I did take a pro bono (volunteer) case for a woman involved in a custody dispute. Anyhow it was my first official court appearance.

My favorite part of the day is waking up to this!

Like Father Like Son!

So we finally found Erich's baby pictures and were quite shocked at just how much Jake looks like his dad.
Definitely some differences but definitely some similarities as well. Speaking of Jake he's sick for the first time. It's so sad to hear his cough and hear him struggle to breath with all that gunk. And with a lttle guy not feeling great we've had to put our outdoor excursions on a hold. Hopefully he'll get feeling well soon so we can enjoy all that snow while it lasts :)
